Call for Volunteers!
We are looking for instructors /coaches to help us with Pony Pals this season! Our specific needs are as follows:
Beginner Class Instructors
Instructors teach our Basics curriculum to our Beginner Classes. There are 4 sessions, 6 weeks each, every Sunday from 1:30 to 3:30.
Instructors will follow our established lesson plans covering the basics of working with horses.
-
Horse/Farm safety
-
Catch, halter and lead
-
Grooming
-
Understanding horses, body language
-
Identification, anatomy, markings
-
Basic Care
We have lesson plans for each class, so you always know what to cover for that day. Kids each receive a work book, based on their age and reading skill level.
7-9 year olds: Horse Care for Kids, Elaine Heney
9 and up: Horse Care for Kids, Cherry Hill

We use our herd of mini horses for classes.
Classes held at Empire Hills Farm, 13330 S. Coleman Rd. in Empire.

You can sign up for one or more sessions, but we ask that you commit to all 6 weeks.
Classes start with lesson review in the clubhouse and move to hands-on activities with the horses.
Advanced Coaching
Coaches to help with our Advanced kids’ Performance Troupe. (includes helping with off-site events as applicable)
This season goes from April to November. Practice is Sundays from 3:00 to 5:00, and Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00.

Our advanced kids work with the mini horses in-hand, learning choreographed routines that can be performed at shows or for special events.

Appearances also include:
-
Parades
-
Special events

This year, we will expand to teaching obstacles courses, individual tricks with horses and honing a great performance group.

Experience with choreography, drill teams or similar is very helpful, but not necessary.
Committing to a full season isn't required, but the minimum equivalent of every other practice session would be desirable in order to build relationships with the kids and create consistency.
